Static Caravan Bedroom Makeover

Next in the series of static caravan makeovers is the bedroom. This was the only room that we didn’t move any walls in.

The Before…

Back to the joists

The rotting floor meant we had to go back to the joists, as you can see here. You can also see how thin the walls were.

Bedroom design plans

The brief for this space was:

  • Warm sunset colours, pinks, terracotta, taupe, red.

  • A small but completely luxurious space with a comfortable mattress and lovely linen.

  • The hero is the view- fit a picture window- the biggest we can afford!

  • Built-in under bed storage to maximise space.

  • Super comfortable mattress and lux sheets

  • Mood lighting

  • Small but luxurious and practical.

You can see the colours and materials I pulled together for it above.

The room was made watertight, and then used as a storage room for a few months.

Then we began it’s slow transformation. First, stripping the wallpaper off, plasterboarding the walls and white washing everything. We did this is 34 degree heat (INSIDE THE VAN!) But it did mean the paint dried very quickly!

Paint colours

We chose Lick Pink 01 for the walls and Pink 02 for the ceiling. (Lick paint sent us this paint as a PR product). we absolutely love the colour. painting the ceiling a shde lighter than the walls helps to mae the ceilings feel taller than they are which was very much necessary,

The After

And here it is all finished. I’ll share a list of sources at the end, but it was done on the tightest possible budget, and met the brief exactly.

Sources

The wall paint is Lick Pink 01 and Lick Pink 02 (pr products)

The flooring is the cheapest hardwearing grey carpet we could find via Facebook Marketplace. (budget was very tight!) £120. I would have loved cork flooring throughout.

The double glaxed window was from Facebook Marketplace. £30. Dave installed it.

Dave built the bed, re-using some bed slats from our old bed. The timber was around £80- but he used what we already had.

The bed skirt is a vintage table cloth I’ve had for years

The bedlinen is from LinenMe (Pr product)

The rug is from Barrpws Antiques in Faversham ) £130

The headboard was £10 from facebook Marketplace and I spent another £30 on ecru coloured boucle fabric

The pink bedside shelves were £30 from Facebook Marketplace

The fabric covered stripy boxes were from Habitat a few years ago (can’t remember the price)

The wardrobe was free from Facebook marketplace, painted in the same colour as the wall.

The green bedside lamp and wall light are from Made.com and were £110 for both

The linen blind was from Facebook Markerplace. Originally Laura Ashley, £20

If I include the value of the PR products I received the rough total cost is £700.

The best bit

Opening the blind in the morning, sitting in bed with your coffee (hot or iced!) and enjoying the view. Ridiculous.
